I have 99 bobbi pins and I seriously can never find one… anyone else relate? I swear those little guys have legs and always find a way to run off with my hair ties. I was done playing hide and go seek trying to hunt down an elastic band so I decided it was time to create a functional organizational system in our master bathroom to tackle all of the issues at hand.
For us, under the bathroom sink has always been a bit of a catch all for extra products, make-up, cleaning supplies, and more. Having a smaller master bathroom with very little storage meant we needed to be able to use the cabinet to hold a multitude of things, while still maintaining a thought-out system to make everyday living a bit easier for me and my hubs.
I started by making a list of the top 3 priorities for this space:
- drawers that hold all of our daily essentials and most used products
- a place to store extra products and contacts
- a solution for all of my hair tools and their cords
First step: I emptied out all of the drawers and cabinets.
Second step: I use disinfectant cloths to clean out all surfaces of the drawers and cabinets.
Third step: I used some scrap liners to line the drawers and bottom surface of the cabinet
Once I prepped the cabinet and drawers, I began looking through all of the products and junk we had shoved in there. I threw away products that had expired, products that I no longer used, and any broken hair ties or bobbi pins. I then sorted items by categories and began strategizing the most effective way to store everything.
DRAWER ORGANIZATION // HIS SIDE
I decided that we each would get a drawer. I put items in our drawers that we use every single day for easy access. For instance, my husband wears daily contacts, so I made sure to put a few weeks supply in the drawer to make it easy to grab in the mornings while he is getting ready. The rest of the supply are stored in boxes in the cabinet below. Other things such as his toothbrush, toothpaste, and deodorant are stored in the drawer as well.
Acrylic containers are my favorite for drawer organization. You may remember that I used acrylic organizers to tackle our junk drawer, too! These guys are stackable and they come in lots of different sizes and shapes, which allows you to custom your organization!
DRAWER ORGANIZATION // MY SIDE
I used 2 of my favorite 3 compartment containers to organize small essentials that I use on a daily basis such as hair ties, bobbi pins, retainers, lipgloss, and other make-up and face products. I used a larger acrylic container to hold my hair brushes. I used a small gap along the outer edge of the drawer to hold my combs.
I spy Beautycounter. I shared how it changed me life HERE. I absolutely love their products and better yet, I love their mission to get safe products into the hands of everyone. Isn’t their blush palate so cute with that tan and black pattern? and check out all of those pretty sheer lip glosses up there. Swoon.
HAIR TIE + BOBBI PINS
My mom got me these adorable little jars for Christmas and they are perfect for holding bobbi pins and hair ties. Love the tight sealing harness top to keep it all contained!
Pretty drawer liners and pink vinyl labels. I really think it is the key to my heart these days.
UNDER SINK CABINET ORGANIZATION
Under the bathroom sink is where we store all of our extra products, as well as my hair tools and a few bathroom cleaning necessities. These over the door organizers are a great way to maximize cabinet space, especially for those with minimum bathroom storage, like us. I have had this organizer for quite awhile, but they even make one that is heat resistant so you can put your curling iron/straightener right back in there after use.
I love these acrylic shoe pull out drawers for under the sink storage. It is a great solution to hold extra hair and make-up products, feminine products or extra rolls of toilet paper, and nail care products. These acrylic drawer organizers are great and a really reasonable price.
On the hubby’s side, the same drawers are used to store extra dental supplies and contact lenses. PSA: denture cleanser tabs are great for cleaning retainers!
So there you have it– how we keep all of the randomness in our master bath contained. What’s your trick to clearing the clutter under your bathroom sink? Happy Friday, everyone!! I am pumped for the weekend and for the Olympics. Who’s with me?
